What a week for Universal Pictures (Comcast is the parent company), Steven Spielberg and new young director Colin Treverrow, whose only major film was Safety Not Guaranteed, a wonderful indie film from 2012. Colin will become one of Hollywood’s most sought after due to the huge success of Jurassic World whish is well on it’s way to $1 Billion (and more) in worldwide box office. While reading through audience commentary on Rotten Tomatoes, I came across commentary that best described the new Jurassic World…
"What Trevorrow and his Safety writer Derek Connolly do well is establish a summer thrill-ride that places fun above all else, and it achieves this goal. Jurassic World is consistently entertaining and engaging, with action sequences that are shorter but constantly push the narrative forward. With all the Jurassic films, there’s a palpable sense of dread, of holding back before things get really nuts, and Trevorrow has fun teasing an audience; however, he also delivers on what he promises. The dinosaur action is visceral and rather violent for a PG-13 film, but the segments are diverse in orchestration that it never feels like the movie is repeating itself."
In my opinion, this is as good a sequel as I have ever seen. In addition, it is one of the few films I liked in 3D, as I have lost my love of 3D as it has done little for many films. The 3D in this film and in the new Disney Pixar Inside Out (also playing the Warwick) do justice to the films. On the subject of 3D, I was unhappy in the presentation at the Warwick as a new 3D wheel installed failed and caused a blurry action in the film. I apologize deeply for a presentation last Sunday evening and during the weekend. Technicians have repaired the problem and the 3D at the Warwick looks great. Due to last week’s 3D problem, I invite the fans of the Warwick to a FREE SHOWING of JURASSIC WORLD this Sunday AM at 10:30 in 3D. (Limited to 67 seats and on a first come basis…tickets are on line at warwick-place.com and or visit the theatre.)
We are very proud of the Warwick and that it features the best in digital projection and sound in a very comfortable setting. Join us this Sunday AM for a film, whether the free showing of Jurassic World in 3D at 10:30AM, or the regular showing of Inside Out at 11:00AM. We have two very good films at the Warwick this week so join us, and we thank you for your support of your community theatre!
See You at The Movies!
